Island Obliteration: before and after

Two years ago while we were putting the finishing touches on Crusoe, we witnessed a Cambodian naval landing craft unloading a handful of excavators, bobcats and other equipment onto our beautiful, then untouched beach lowest price levitra.  The destruction that followed was heartbreaking. The original dense jungle paths were obliterated into bare, wide roads to make way for the Chinese development.  Every day we would wake the the “beep, beep, beep” of an excavator in reverse, then listen to trees being felled and general mayhem...

“A new roof!”, they said.

First things first, normally I start my day with a cup of tea, for my colleagues maybe a cup of coffee… But today it was a crowbar and a pair of goggles! Knowing the roof of the bar was starting to be a false idea of securement, we started the day early tearing it down to make way for a new one. With a crowbar in hand and without any hesitation we knocked out all the thatch above the bar. It may seem fun and it was, it may seem simple and that it was. Bruiser Dog has Puppies

Bruiser- the island dog that everyone loves, has puppies. The two boys and two girls were soon named. Meecha, Toast, Gump, and Chi Chi. Dj and I, the only ones at the camp that day found bruiser to be less than content.  We noticed a crawl space she had formed under the bar. Every now and again, we would see Bruiser enter the mouth of the tunnel and shortly after exit on the opposite end...

The Story of Crusoe Island

The Story of Crusoe Island

Story time! Many people ask me how Crusoe Island came to be, normally when they’re sitting around the fire sipping a drink with not a lot else to do. This has led to some fairly extensive and in-depth verbal explanations of how it all happened, but for the sake of writing less and getting outside more I’ll keep this one fairly brief*.  If you want to know the full story you’ll have to come and ask me yourself! It all began when I found myself floating around Phnom Penh in 2010 looking for a job. At this point I had no real...
