Join the Crusoe Crew

Hi there and thanks for the interest! We need some help out on our glorious piece of paradise! With high season approaching here in Cambodia, we’ll be looking to hire a few extra sets of hands to help us out. If you haven’t heard of Crusoe Island, then educate yourself by checking out the rest of our website, our Facebook page and what others think on TripAdvisor.

Here are the positions we have available currently:

Bar Staff

Your main duty will be working in the bar for one 6 to 8 hour shift per day. In your downtime, you’ll be expected to do a few chores around camp and run activities for guests, such as guided treks, fishing, rock climbing, archery, crafts, etc.  Chores include picking up leaves, carrying buckets of water, cleaning up camp, setting or packing up tents, folding hammocks, unloading supplies from the boat and cleaning glasses. It’s not the hardest job in the world, and you’ll have plenty of free time to do your own thing! Minimum commitment: 1 month Inclusions:

  • 3 meals per day
  • Generous drink allowance (alcoholic and otherwise)
  • Somewhere to sleep (staff dorm, tent or hammock)
  • Work visas included*
  • Free transport to and from the island
  • Regular shore leave

Note: You won’t be eligible for a salary unless you’re put into a management position or have magical superpowers. This is a lifestyle job for travelers!

Chef

You’ll be responsible for the food at Crusoe, kitchen cleanliness and the availability of supplies. You’ll need a fair amount of experience in kitchens as this will be one of your more challenging jobs as a chef. You’ll need to preemptively order supplies to feed the amount of guests we have at the time. There is no refrigeration or freezers on the island (just ice boxes) so good food planning and storage procedures is imperative. You’ll be cooking from anywhere between 5 and 100 people at a time, with anywhere between 2 and 6 people helping you in the kitchen, more for busy periods.  You’ll have direct input as to what’s in the menu, but you’ll also have to cook some set meals that have always been part of the menu and won’t be changing. Minimum commitment: 3 months Inclusions:

  • Monthly salary, email for more info
  • 3 meals per day
  • Generous drink allowance (alcoholic and otherwise)
  • Inclusion in special activities for dedicated staff (substitute for regular days off)
  • Somewhere to sleep (staff dorm, tent or hammock)
  • Work visas included*
  • Free transport to and from the island
  • Regular shore leave

Carpenter or Builder

Not really a job, but we need help fixing up some bungalows, building some new stuff around camp and building a new bungalow. If you’re good with your hands then we can use you! Note that there are NO POWER TOOLS on the island, so all of the work is manual. Hammer, nails, saws, chisels, etc. Most of the construction material is naturally occurring or recycled, so experience building with non-standard materials is advantageous. Minimum commitment: 1 week Inclusions:

  • Free drinks!
  • Somewhere to sleep (staff dorm, tent or hammock)
  • Free transport to and from the island
